Prayer Corner
We’ve come this far by faith!  Here’s a portion of the August 2010 Prayer Corner: patience and hope, depending on the One to whom we pray fervently to hear and answer our prayers according to His will.  Our Father, enable the Covenant congregation to be faithful in fervent prayer as we wait for your plan and purposes to be revealed for future mission and ministry.  Sustain the Transition Team, Church Council and Pastor Terry as together we wait with patience and hope for our coming transformation.  In Jesus’ name.  Amen. One year later we have completed the transition phase and have moved into the transformation we hoped for with Pastor Heath’s installation on August 21! We have come this far by faith according Hebrews 11:1.  We have a new Shepherd to lead the Covenant flock.  May we persevere in prayer that as a congregation we’ll love one another and serve in the kingdom in unity in the community to be a light that reveals Jesus.  Without faith it’s impossible to please God. (Hebrews 11:6)   May our faith increase, so that we can do greater things to the glory of God. Anniversary of 9-11Lord, Jesus Christ, Prince of Peace, amid a world full of tribulation, You encourage us, saying, “Take heart; I have overcome the world: (John 16:33).  Thank You that Your peace is not the shallow, short-lived peace the world gives.  By Your holy cross, You reconciled us forever to the Father, giving us the peace that passes understanding, the deep and lasting rest of sins forgiven.  Grant us to know Your peace, even in the midst of troubles.  Cause enmity among people to cease.  By Your Spirit, grant that, as far as it depends on us, we may live peaceably with all.  Amen.

The Worship Committee is working to help interested members serve more effectively during worship services. We have found that sometimes members are afraid to assist with various parts of the service because of a fear of the unknown. September 18 is the day to mark on your calendar for “Equipping the Saints.”  Learning opportunities will be offered between services for those interested in serving as acolyte, readers, ushers, children’s sermon. Opportunities to learn about serving as communion assistant, altar guild member, worship assistant, prayer minister, or counter.  These will NOT be long lecture, but simply short presentations that will allow those interested to understand expectations so that worship occurs in a meaningful, appropriate way.  If you are interested in knowing how or why something is done the way it is, this is the day for you. Plan now to join us on September 18 to learn about the various opportunities to serve during a worship service. If you have questions, please contact Bonnie Kuehl at bmkuehl@aol.com .  We look forward to seeing you there.  We will even work to have a calendar available so you can sign up when it works for you. Remember, the more people who choose to participate in filling these worship responsibilities, the easier it is to be available. One other thought, God hasn’t asked us to be fully knowledgeable before beginning a task, He asks us to be available.
