Children learn through play!
Covenant Lutheran Church's MDO believes in play! We strive to give children various opportunities to learn through free play and structured play. It is in this safe and secure environment that children can learn social skills and gain foundational knowledge that prepares them for their next steps.

THE TEAM
Carrie, DirectorMy name is Carrie Blunt, and I am the director at Covenant Lutheran Mothers’ Day Out. I grew up in multiple cities in Texas before graduating from high school in Midland, Texas. I graduated from Texas Woman’s University with a degree in Elementary Education. After graduating, I taught 6th grade English/Language Arts/Reading in Victoria, Aransas Pass, Conroe, and Temple for a total of 14 years. I also raised our 3 children (1 boy and 2 girls) and 3 nieces. We are now the proud grandparents of 5 grandsons and 2 granddaughters. Prior to becoming the Director, I was a teacher in the 1’s, 2’s, and 3’s classes.
I am excited to continue to be at Covenant Lutheran Mother’s Day Out. I love working with children and the fantastic teachers here. Coming here to “work” is more like having fun and being able to play! When I am not working, I enjoy Christian fiction, walking around my neighborhood, attending Ladies Bible Class, completing needle projects, collecting stamps, and most of all, doing activities with my family. |
Claire, 1 year oldsMy name is Claire. I am a sophomore in college working towards a degree in Criminal Justice. I lived in the San Francisco Bay Area until last year when my family moved to Temple. I worked at CLMDO over the summer, and I look forward to continuing to work with the children throughout the fall! In my free time, I am studying, reading, or watching documentaries. When I am reading, I enjoy mysteries and anything written by C.S. Lewis.

Liss, Younger 2 year oldsMy name is Liss, and I started at CLMDO as a parent. I loved the school’s philosophy and atmosphere for my own kids, and I am grateful to be able to continue that joy and welcome new families. I grew up in Belton but went away for college. My husband and I moved back and now have two children. We really enjoy being near our extended families. I have led the toddlers class team at my church for several years and have worked at CLMDO for one year. I enjoy riding my horse, reading and traveling.

Johanna, Older 2 year oldsHello! My name is Johanna. I was born and raised in the Philippines and moved to the US in 2013. I have a husband and two kids, ages 11 and 4 years old. I started working in CL-Mother's Day Out in 2021 where I worked with children ages 12-18 months. I enjoyed my time nurturing these kids and seeing their development. I have a great time working at CLMDO because of the environment and the love we get from the children.

Amber, Younger 3 year oldsI’m Amber, I grew up here in Temple and graduated from Temple High School in the class of 2022. I’m currently a student at Texas A&M-Central Texas, where I major in education. I have three years of experience working with elementary and middle school students, both in and out of the classroom, including a summer as a camp counselor. I also double as the Director of Family Ministries here at Covenant Lutheran Church! When I’m not at work, you can usually find me watching movies with my family, attempting to play pickleball, or hanging out with my cat, Salem!

Susan, Older 3 year olds I was born and raised in Northwest Indiana. I went to college and received my degree in Deaf Education at Ball State University. The program focused on Language and Communication Development. The first few years after I graduated I taught in the Appalachian Mountains of Virginia and then returned to Indiana. In 1985, I moved to Brownsville, Texas, to teach at the Regional Day School for the Deaf. I took over as the Assistive Technology Coordinator in 2005 and remained there until 2017, when I officially retired.
I moved to Temple in 2019 to be closer to my family. I have two sons, their wives, as well as two grandsons living in Austin. We are expecting a new addition to our little family in December, and I can’t wait to hold our baby girl. |
Mamie, 4+
|
My name is Mamie. I was born and raised in Houston, TX. My husband and I have four children; one daughter and three boys. We have a granddaughter, and a grandson on the way. We have lived in CO, GA, and TX following his military career.
My experience with children comes with being a stay at home mom. Two of our boys are diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder. Learning and living with these experiences has allowed me to shape my way of helping and leading children. I love working with children, and getting them engaged in learning something new. I love to volunteer for my children’s schools. My hobbies are watching movies, drawing, and painting. I hope to have a great year, getting to know you and the children. |
Hi, my name Jessica and I am excited to join the CLMDO staff this year! My role includes financial reporting and assisting the Director. All of my children attended this program prior to entering public school. Our family loved the learning environment and all the people we met. In my free time, I enjoy watching sports, reading and being with my family and friends.
