Children learn through play!
Covenant Lutheran Church's MDO believes in play! We strive to give children various opportunities to learn through free play and structured play. It is in this safe and secure environment that children can learn social skills and gain foundational knowledge that prepares them for their next steps.

THE TEAM
Carrie, DirectorMy name is Carrie Blunt, and I am the newest director at Covenant Lutheran Mothers’ Day Out. I grew up in multiple cities in Texas before graduating from high school in Midland, Texas. I graduated from Texas Woman’s University with a degree in Elementary Education. After graduating, I taught 6th grade English/Language Arts/Reading in Victoria, Aransas Pass, Conroe, and Temple for a total of 14 years. I also raised our 3 children (1 boy and 2 girls) and 3 nieces. For the past 6 years I have worked at Covenant Lutheran Mothers Day Out as a teacher in the 1’s, 2’s, and 3’s classes. Now we enjoy our 5 grandchildren and 4 great nieces and nephews.
I am excited to continue to be at Covenant Lutheran Mother’s Day Out. I love working with children and the fantastic teachers here. Coming here to “work” is more like having fun and being able to play! When I am not working, I enjoy reading Christian fiction, walking around my neighborhood, Ladies Bible Class, and my family. |
Johanna, 12-17 monthsMy name is Johanna Wooley. I was born and raised in the Philippines. I graduated from the University of Perpetual Health before moving to the United States in 2013. I have two sons, ages 9 and 2. I have worked at Covenant Lutheran Mother’s Day Out for 2 years. I work with children 12-18 months. I really enjoy working at CLMDO because of the environment and ideology. I love nurturing little children while they are young and growing up. I enjoy doing life with my family and friends. I also enjoy watching Korean dramas on TV and going to the beach when I can.

Liss, 18-23 monthsMy name is Liss, and I started at CLMDO as a parent. I loved the school’s philosophy and atmosphere for my own kids, and I am grateful to be able to continue that joy and welcome new families. I grew up in Belton but went away for college. My husband and I moved back and now have two children. We really enjoy being near our extended families. I have led the toddlers class team at my church for several years and have worked at CLMDO for one year. I enjoy riding my horse, reading and traveling.

Vicky, 2 year old'sMy name is Vicky Snyder, and I am also known as Ms. Vicky. I have three years of experience as a Special Education Aide with Belton Independent School District/Chisholm Trail Elementary. Teaching is a new and joyous career choice for me. I spent most of my working life in journalism and legislative work before moving from Pennsylvania to Texas to assist my mother. My hobbies include swimming, reading and watching good movies! I have been married to my husband Greg for 37 years. We have two children, three grandchildren and two fur babies!

Susan, 3 year old'sI was born and raised in Northwest Indiana. I went to college and received my degree in Deaf Education at Ball State University. The program focused on Language and Communication Development. The first few years after I graduated I taught in the Appalachian Mountains of Virginia and then returned to Indiana. In 1985, I moved to Brownsville, Texas, to teach at the Regional Day School for the Deaf. I took over as the Assistive Technology Coordinator in 2005 and remained there until 2017, when I officially retired.
I moved to Temple in 2019 to be closer to my family. I have two sons, their wives, as well as two grandsons living in Austin. We are expecting a new addition to our little family in December, and I can’t wait to hold our baby girl. |
Mamie, 4 & 5 year old's My name is Mamie Peña. I was born and raised in Houston, TX. My husband and I have four children; one daughter and three boys. We have lived in CO, GA, and TX following his military career.
My experience with children comes with being a stay at home mom. Two of our boys are diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder. Learning and living with these experiences has allowed me to shape my way of helping to lead children. I look forward to engaging with the children when I fill in for a class. My goal is to carry through the teachers lesson plans, and enjoy the time I get to spend with the class. I love to volunteer for my children’s elementary school library, and chaperoning with the high school marching band. My hobbies are watching movies, drawing, and painting. |
